A MESSAGE FROM
OUR BOARD CHAIR AND CEO
The past year marked an important step forward for Community Living Toronto. Guided by our Strategic Plan 2023–2028, we strengthened our foundation while continuing to advance our vision of a community where people with an intellectual disability are included, valued, and empowered to live the lives they choose.
Across Ontario, demand for developmental services continues to grow, and the needs of the people we support are becoming increasingly complex. In this evolving environment, we remained focused on delivering responsive, person-centred support while building the capacity and stability needed to meet future challenges.
We are grateful to the Government of Ontario for its continued investment in community-based developmental services. This commitment provides greater stability across the sector and enables organizations like Community Living Toronto to strengthen services, innovate, and respond to the changing needs of the people we support and their families.
This year, we made meaningful progress on several strategic priorities. Housing remained at the forefront of our work as we celebrated the opening of the Mirvish development, welcoming people into new homes, including our new Etobicoke vertical community. These projects represent more than new housing, they are part of our commitment to creating inclusive communities where people belong and can thrive.
We also strengthened our leadership in advocacy. Through ongoing engagement with government, sector partners, and community leaders, we worked to ensure that the experiences and perspectives of people with an intellectual disability help shape the policies and decisions that affect their lives.
Together, we are building stronger communities where every person is recognized for their strengths, included without barriers, and valued for who they are.
Our children’s services evolved to better meet the needs of families by expanding flexible, therapeutic supports that help children build skills while remaining connected to their homes, schools, and communities. This reflects our commitment to designing services that are responsive, individualized, and centred on each family’s unique circumstances.
Inclusion continued to guide every aspect of our work. By embedding the principles of Listen, Include, Respect throughout the organization and investing in learning for our leadership team and Board, we strengthened our culture of engagement and accountability, ensuring that the voices of people with lived experience remain central to the decisions we make.
The progress we achieved this year was made possible by the dedication of our staff, the guidance of our Board of Directors, the commitment of our Patron’s Council, and the support of our many partners, donors, volunteers, and advocates. Together, these collective efforts have strengthened our organization and positioned us for the future.
As we look ahead, our focus remains clear. We will continue expanding housing opportunities, championing inclusive public policy, and delivering innovative supports that empower people to live with choice, dignity, and belonging. While the work continues, so does our optimism. Together, we are building stronger communities where every person is recognized for their strengths, included without barriers, and valued for who they are.
